Interview Section Started for Mechanical Engineers

A new section called Interview section started under the label "interview". Those who wants to publish something, post it with the label 'interview'


First of all, before we going to an interview we should at least know what all subjects that we have learned during our college days. We may not even remember the whole list of subjects that we once 'studied'.

So for Mechanical Engineers from Kannur University..
Probably This list may do the job..

8th Sem

1. Operations Management :  Inventory control, costs,CPM PERt, Production planning, forecasting, plant location, plant layout planning etc
2. Thermal Engineering III : Refrigeration, air conditioning, vapor compression system,psychrometry 
3.  Manufacturing Science and Technology : Machine tool, tool geometry, chips,NC system etc.
4. Machine Design II :Design of clutch , brake, belt,gears,journal, bearing, Product design considerations
5. Quality Engineering Management : Quality,TQM ,Quality costs, market reserch,benchmarking, control charts etc
6. CAD CAM lab
7. Project

Just To remember : 8 looks like the operation table light
= Before starting the 8th operation of the manager,a thermometer was manufactured using design data book in a quality manner.

7th sem

1. Economics :  Definition, factors of production, demand, supply, forms of business, banks,income etc.
2. Thermal Engineering II : Prop of gas mixture, steam power cycles,steam generator, nozzle,engine, turbine, Power plant
3. Industrial Management : Management, costs, marketing management, Human Resource management
4. Metal Forming : criterion, Processes, classification,Henkey theorom etc.
5. Inventory and Supply chain Management : SCM, Sourcing, procurement, Independent demand system, just in time, kanban etc
6. Seminar
7. Project

Just To remember : 7 looks like the walking stick of Economics sir
=On the 7th of the day Economics sir was studying hard the thermal eng. from an  indudtrial manager who quit metal forming  due to lack of inventory .

6th sem

1. Machine Vibration and Industrail Noise control : 1DOF ,2DOF system, coulomb damping, noise etc
2. Operations Research : Vector space, Linear programming,duality, transportation , assignment ,game problems queuing theory etc
3. Metal Casting and Joining : Soldifiacation, mould, patterncasting process, filler materials, welding metallurgy of welding etc.
4. Thermal Engineering I : Internal combustion enginegas turbine plants etc/
5. Machine design I : steps in design thermal stress,keys, joints, welded joints, spring, shaft, coupling etc
6. Optimization Techniques : Simplex method, Linear porgramming, unbalanced problems, Non linear programming, Dynamic programming and game theory
7. Thermal Eng lab
8. Mini project

Just To remember : 6 looks like a vibrating pendulum

= The 6th question was Vibration OR Metal Casting?? Dou know what he wrote? And he wrote Thermal Eng is used in machine design for optimisng the engine performance.

5th sem

1. Software Engineering : 
2. Dynamics of Machinery : Gyroscope, Lagrangian Dynamics, D'Alemberts principle,Flywheel Analysis
3. Advanced Mechanics of Fluids : Reynolds, eqn, Navier stokes eqn, stokes problem, compressible flows, norrmal, oblique shocks etc.
4. Heat and Mass Transfer : energy balance,convective heat transfer, radiative transfer, mass trasnfer
5. Linear System Analysis : 
6. Numerical Analysis :
7. HMT lab
8. Production lab

Just To remember : 5 looks like S, S for software

= The 'software' which was stuck in a Dyamics of machinery  was used to resists the  Advanced mechanics of fluids and heat and masss tranfer of his linear system in numerous ways

4th sem

1. Eng Maths IV :
2. Mechanics of Machinery : cam design,gears, kinematic synthesis, etc
3. Advances mechanics of solids : strees,strain, 2D problem in elasticity,reciprocal,castigliano's theorem, torsion etc
4. Thermodynamics : First law, second law, max well equation mixture of gases etc
5. Electronics :
6. Fluid Machinery : continuity eqn, eulers turbine eqn, pumps etc
7. Fluid Machinery lab
8. Production eng lab

Just To remember :  2+2= 4 is   basic math

= Recipe :: His MOM added some Math eqns with (Advanced Mechanics of ) Solids and applied some heat and Thermodynamics using some electronic stove and added water using fluid machinery.

3rd sem

1. Math III
2. Mechanics of Fluids : fluid flow,eulorian, lagrange method, 1D flow, Euler, Bernaully eqn,, 2D flow, boundary layers etc
3. Mechanics of solids : stress tensor, Hooks law, isotropy, torsion, bending stress in beams transformation of stress and strain etc
4. Material Science and Metallurgy : Fracture, brittle, ductile materials, steels, defects and imperfections, phase diagrams, 
5. Machine Drawing : 
6. Electrical Eng :
7.  SM lab
8. Electrical Eng lab
